A new gold medal

Last week-end has taken place in Paris the "Concours général agricole" during the 2011 Paris agriculture show.
It was a good "medals harvest" for us.
Chateau Du retout 2009 has been awarded with the best medal : a gold one.
And all our work has been recognized because two others wines of our estate received a gold and a silver medal.
Our first white grappes harvest

Today we finish our first harvest of white grappes varieties.
We start by the sauvignon gris the 9 september. The 20 september we picked the mondeuse blanche and the savagnin, and today, it was the gros manseng.
This is a very small harvest : we only have 7 liters of savagnin, 10 liters of mondeuse blanche, 40 liters of sauvignon gris and 100 liters of gros manseng.
The alcoholic fermentations strat slowly.
So, wait and see !
On monday we'll start the red harvest with merlot variety.
It's flower time

Still the beginning of the week, the vines start their flowering.
In first merlot's grapevine start, and after the cabernet sauvignon. The last grape variety to be in flower is petit verdot.
If the weather is good and hot, the flower time can last only one week.
Gold medal for Chateau du Retout

Chateau du Retout has been awarded during the 2010 agricultural show : Concours de Bordeaux - Vins d'Aquitaine.
Our 2008 vintage received a gold medal.
